75% less scarring was seen in an independent study when used 12 weeks after stitches were out.

What happens when we get stitches?

Most minor cuts and scrapes heal on their own, with only mild soap and water needed to keep them clean. However, more serious surgical cuts or incisions may require stitches, or sutures, to hold tissues together while they heal. The goal is to reconnect the edges so that the skin and other tissues can heal. The stitches are then removed.

Although removing stitches is not difficult, you should not attempt it yourself. It is critical that your doctor check to ensure that the wound is healing properly and that the stitches can be removed. Although it is natural to be nervous when getting stitches, especially if you have recently experienced trauma, the procedure is generally painless. Stitches will also help cuts heal with minimal scarring and infection risk.

Scars are left by all procedures. They are a normal part of skin growth and repair following an injury. The new skin is composed differently than the surrounding undamaged skin and will usually appear differently. If you’re seeking to reduce the appearance of unsightly scars, trust Scarguard with your skincare needs. Our one-of-kind products, like our Scar Repair Liquid can help prevent and shrink scars acquired from injury, surgery, and stitches.

breast cancer scars

Scarring is a concern for many women who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer. This may seem like an obvious risk associated with breast surgeries, but it's also something that can happen as a result of radiation therapy. Scarring may be more likely to occur in certain individuals, such as those who are younger or who are smokers. Breast Cancer scarring is something that cannot be avoided, but using Scarguard skincare products to treat it can allow them to heal properly and become less noticeable over time.

What our customers say about us

Recommend this to anyone who has gotten a scar to help its appearance. How this worked for me was that it minimized the red pigmentation that my scar left behind extremely quickly and improved the texture and appearance in a way that simply leaving the scar alone wouldn't have. Maybe the best way to describe it is to say that it helps scar tissue blend in with normal skin in texture and appearance. I have recommended this to many friends and all of them agree that it helped minimize the appearance and hyperpigmentation.

-I fell onto concrete and got scrapes on my face. The scars were distinctly pink. It took 2 weeks to remove the discoloration. Now, I have trouble telling where those scars are-they pretty much look like skin.

-Friend got a gash on her face and the scar dipped in and was red. She was so embarrassed and tried to cover it with bangs. After using this product, the scar is still dipped into the skin but the redness has completely subsided. It took her a month. I think her scar ended up too deep for the product to completely "level" the skin, but she's extremely happy with the result.

-Friend is a cook and got multiple burns and scars from her or people around her being careless with knives, fire, or boiling oil. She is not good at using this as frequently as she should be but she has noted an improvement in the appearance and believes that it would help if she was more proactive about applying it.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

-Friend is prone to hyperpigmentation and uses this on all scars to minimize the appearance.

The cap with the bristle is useless. The product clumps up in the bristles and application becomes difficult. Instead, keep the red stopper and original cap and apply this almost as if it's a rollerball perfume, being careful to leave a layer and not to spill product. It smells pretty bad but the smell goes away in a minute or two. Apply to an area wider than the scar because the edges will fray up. I've found that makeup application over the dried layer is pretty much impossible. I instead put a bandage on my cheek to keep the film in place while going about my daily activities and in 2 weeks, the scar appearance had minimized to my liking. I applied two times a day, morning and before sleep. Do not apply on wounds that are still healing-wait for scabs to come off too. I've found that leaving the scab on for as long as possible helps improve the appearance and texture too.

I always keep a spare bottle on hand so that if I get hurt, I can use it on the very first day that the wound heals completely!

I'm about to order my 4th bottle. Another reviewer said to keep and use the small, red plug and cap without the brush that it comes with, and I completely agree. The red plug will keep the product from drying out inside the bottle (it will definitely dry up in the bottle the more it is exposed to air.)

Another person said that when you use this stuff you will find flakes all over your house- So true! I am sweeping them up all the time.

Anyways, how it works- I have acne scarring, and used silicone scar sheets for about 2 years straight before turning to this product. Silicone sheets work best if you keep them on for 24/7- not something you can do on your face, so you sleep with them, and talk about finding things everywhere! I was always looking for them in my bed! Stuck to my pillow, stuck to my hair..stuck to my sweeties body!!! So weird. And I didn't really see results from them that I wanted.

After trying this product, I've noticed a lot of improvement! It seems to be softening the sharp edges of my scars, and some of my shallow scars are completely gone. My skin in general seems to be better. It's not 100% but there is enough improvement so far that I want to keep going. I apply it every night, and scrub it off in the morning. I actually put lavender EO on my face, then evening primrose oil, then my Skinmedica Retinol, THEN I apply the Scarguard on top of my scarred areas. It dries even on top of all my other products. In the morning, it takes a bit of scrubbing to get it off, but its worth it.

AND- the best thing about it that I have noticed...It seems to speed up healing of pimples!! It stings like a mofo, but it definitely makes pimples heal up in only a few days (and so far any zits I have covered with this have healed without a scar, and redness seems to disappear faster too!)

Wish I had discovered this years ago when I had bad acne.

I've used other roller-applicator silicone gels before with mixed results -- this seems to work better since you get a thicker (but still quite thin) layer. I've been using it for about three weeks and my raised scar has gone almost completely flat. Even when I'm looking for it, it's very hard to see. The average person probably wouldn't notice it at all.

The bottle has a ton of product, so you can use it for a long time on a large scar without running out.

A tip for use: The silicone WILL dry out if exposed to air. Make sure you brush it on quickly and replace the cap ASAP. And clear the inside of the cap and bottle threads of any product that has dripped so you can ensure a tight seal.

I like this product, have to be consistent in use. It really smoothed out my scar almost to the point where you can't tell. Wish I had taken pics but the YouTube video of the girl that suffered from a big scar on face is similar to mine on the nose and so the healing has been pretty impressive. Consistency is vital here.

I’ve been using this product at the recommendation of my plastic surgeon since November 1, 2017. Today is January 17, 2018. Pictured are scars from my breast augmentation. The top pictures are right and left taken on November 1. Bottom are right and left taken this morning. I put this on AT LEAST once every day before bed, but sometimes twice if I remember to put it on in the morning. I follow the instructions by painting a thin layer and let dry for at least 20 seconds before I get dressed. It has a strong chemical smell when wet, but is odorless when dried. Like I said, I’ve been using every day for a couple months, but have only just now run out, and am ordering more now. I also used it on some 2 year old laparoscopic scars and can see the difference in how much it has even made them fade. I HIGHLY recommend this product. My scars are significantly faded compared to a friend’s breast augmentation scars in the same place, done by the same doctor, but she did not use a scar repair medication. IT REALLY WORKS!!!

I have a small keloid leftover from a long-closed cartilage piercing that gets irritated when headphones or my glasses hit it to much. I put neosporin on it for years without much relief. This stuff calmed it down immediately and shrunk its size overnight. I can't speak for larger keloids, but this is exactly what I needed for my small one. This stuff is magical as far as I'm concerned.

I just had major surgery with an awful incision scar with 22 staple scars around it! This product has given me the ability to soften the scar (not keloid) and made it so much less noticeable. Its so easy to use too! I just brush it on everyday 2x a day, its a miracle! So much better than other brands I have tried in the past.

I have a terrible habit of turning a tiny breakout into a scab that never seals. It dries out and I pick and circle continues for a VERY long time. If on the face, make up just makes it worse. THIS product works miracles. It closes up the scar, makes the scab go away and smooths out the skin. If a scab used to take 4 months to seal (not kidding) it now heals in a week!!

Sustained a laceration above my lip about a year ago. My scar is pretty noticeable, I’ve tried silicone sheets, ‘scar creams and liquids’, mederma, and ultimately gave up on it and decided that was it. Luckily this came in the mail today and upon application it already conceals like 90% of my scar which I’m pretty stoked for. I think I’ll be sticking to this one.

Scarguard was recommended to me after I had gotten bit in the face by a dog. I ended up with a nasty scar on my cheek and nose. I used scarguard continuously for 3 months and it is barely noticeable anymore. I'm so glad I found this product, I can't imagine what my face would look like it I didn't use this daily.

I purchased this to help with a new scar after surgery. It was easy to use, smelled horrible, hard to remove from the skin. I had a reaction to this product or I would give it a 5 star rating. I was unable to see if it worked due to the reaction but I purchased this based on a recommendation from Dr. Moretz a plastic surgeon in LA. I’m sure he has seen excellent results or he would not have recommended this to a family friend.

Does a good job of helping to hide a bad scar on face. The scar-guard material will show so I applied make-up over it and it worked very well. It certainly made me much less self-conscious! Small bottle goes a long way! I cannot say for sure that it helps the scar to heal since the improvement could just as well be passage of time. Expect continued healing and improvement over six month.

After a year post-op, I finally tried this product. It was more effective in the first week than any of the expensive silicone sheets and gels that I have used in the past. I highly recommend!

I was recommended this product buy a physicians assistant and I can say this truly does the job! I have a new scar from a recent surgery and its really took the color of it down and has made it look so much better.

I've tried a wide array of scar repair products and this is by far the best. It was recommended by my esthetician for use on my face to repair stitch incisions. I used it along with mepitac tape. I saw visible improvement using this product. Highly recommend!

There's new packaging and that threw me off because I thought I got a knock off product, but it seems to be the same thing. I love this stuff though. It really works great on fresh scars and new cuts and helps minimize the scar in the long run.

Easy to put on dries fast stays on even after you’ve worked all day and clothing! Great product and my fresh scars from Surgery exactly one month from today are slowly vanishing! Very impressed!

Works well takes some time. Use scotch tape on the previous application to remove it. Then apply a new layer. I wouldnt use anything else. Worked on my thigh that had a gnarly scar, and now using it on my hand. Please use sunblock on your hands ( sun from driving) and face. Save yourselves from MOHS surgery for skin cancer.

it actually works. Saw a difference in 1 week. The smell kinda sucks. It drys fast. Easy to use

Best scar treatment ever. I have been using it for a scar on my nose. I had a large Basal Cell cancer removal and it has eliminated the scar. I continue to use it for prevention.

I put it on whenever it starts peeling off. Seller sells it for a wonderful price also. Scars are flat and hydrated

Great product! Dries quickly and minimizes the scar. Consistency is the key. My scars definitely appear more smoother and less red.

Recommended by my plastic surgeon in 2008 and used it again on a more recent scar and it truly makes a difference on RAISED scars only, even old ones!

Dermatologist recommended following MOHS facial surgery.

Product was exactly as ordered and delivery was fast. Excellent.

I really like this repair liquid. Been using it almost a month now and I can see a difference in my old keloid scar. It is shrinking and getting softer.

Starting to notice a difference. Thank you.

This stuff works great! My wife used this to fade the scars for her boob job. After 6-12 months scars are completely faded.

This product works very well! I have been using it on my scar from surgery and on random scars that occur and it visibly lightens the scar!

This was a very good deal. This product really works. No gimmicks. My doctor recommended it and U tried it. It usually sells for $30/ bottle. So, I hope you continue to stock it.
